The West Oxfordshire Learning Partnership (WOLP) is made up of the following education establishments in West Oxfordshire:
- Bartholomew School (Eynsham)
- Burford School
- Carterton Community College
- Chipping Norton School
- The Henry Box School (Witney)
- The Marlborough CE School (Woodstock)
- Wood Green School (Witney)
- Abingdon & Witney College
The Partnership has been active for a number of years and works collaboratively to share and learn from each other’s practice in relation to teaching and learning with the aim of achieving excellence for all our pupils.
The Headteachers and College Principal in West Oxfordshire meet up on a regular basis and a number of specialised groups have been set up within the partnership to support and enhance specific areas or subjects; groups such as Heads of Department who, as well as sharing good practice and experience, also organise inter-school events in their subject areas, Deputy Headteachers in charge of school development who meet regularly to discuss and monitor the constant changes within secondary education and CPD Leaders who are responsible for professional learning and arrange collaborative training opportunities for staff working within the partnership schools.
The WOLP Business & Education Links Group is a good example of collaborative practice. Made up of the Career Co-ordinators from the West Oxfordshire schools together with the Schools’ Liaison Co-ordinator from Abingdon & Witney College and representatives from Oxfordshire Apprenticeships and the Oxfordshire Skills Board, the group meets at least once per term and, getting these people together, has made a big impact on the information, advice and guidance West Oxfordshire schools offer their students. As a group, they have been able to organise some amazing collaborative events including two very successful Apprenticeship Evenings, attended by over 400 students, with 32 exhibitors offering information and career opportunities in all areas of industry, commerce and public services.
The WOLP motto is “Collaboration to achieve excellence for all our pupils”. Working together as a Partnership enables the West Oxfordshire Secondary schools to share their expertise and resources, compare the way they work and to organise events and take advantage of opportunities that would be impractical for one school working on its own.
